The European Week for Waste Reduction is a 3 year project supported by the LIFE+ Programme of the European Commission until 2011. In 2010, the Week will take place from the 20th to the 28th November 2010. The EPA National Waste Prevention Programme (NWPP) is the national organiser for EWWR in Ireland.
Waste reduction involves the first two legal concepts of the new waste framework directive: “waste prevention” and “preparing for reuse”.
In keeping with this hierarchy, the European Week for Waste Reduction aims to raise awareness more specifically on the act of: preventing the production of waste, i.e. everything that can and should be done to prevent throwing an item away, so as to reduce the amount of waste that is submitted for collection and to reduce the harmfulness of the waste generated.
At Lehane Environmental, we employ methods for liquid waste separation and waste minimisation that ensure industrial effluents to be consigned off-site are kept to an absolute minimum. Our Mobile dewatering units available include; Centrifuge, Belt Press, Chamber Press and SDT Units. Our units typically reduce waste volumes by up to 90%.
Lehane Environmental also offer a mobile physio chemical treatment unit for the treatment of large volumes of hydrocarbon liquid waste. The entire operation is computer controlled and has online testing equipment to ensure standards are maintained. There are numerous benefits which are both beneficial to finances and the environment;
- Immediate reduction in Hazardous Waste Volumes Removed From Site (AER – EMS – Continuous Improvements)
- Reduced Co2 Emissions from Transport Operation
- Reduced Financial Cost due to lower waste volumes to be transported.
